About Dhari Devi Temple
Dhari Devi is considered the guardian deity of all of Uttarakhand and is believed to protect the four Char Dhams. Situated on the Alaknanda river at Kaliyasaur (~15 km below Srinagar Garhwal), the idol is uniquely believed to change form three times a day — appearing as a young girl in the morning, a woman at noon, and an old woman in the evening. The original temple was submerged by the Srinagar Hydroelectric Project in 2013 and the idol relocated — the relocation coincided with the catastrophic Kedarnath floods, which many attribute to this disturbance.
