About Kasar Devi
Kasar Devi temple above Almora at 2,116 m sits within the Van Allen Radiation Belt — a scientifically confirmed geomagnetic zone that has been documented to affect human consciousness. NASA has identified the same electromagnetic properties here as at Stonehenge and Machu Picchu. Swami Vivekananda meditated here in 1890, Alfred Sorenson (Sunyata) lived here for decades, and Allen Ginsberg, Gary Snyder, and Bob Dylan all visited during the 1970s hippie trail. The ridge combines exceptional Himalayan views with a palpable spiritual energy.
Places to See

• Himalayan Panorama from the Ridge (Nanda Devi, Trishul, Panchachuli visible)
• Crank's Ridge (the 1970s hippie trail settlement area, now quiet artist colony)

Tips
The dawn visit (5:30 AM) is transformative — arrive before sunrise, sit in silence, and feel the geomagnetic energy of the zone. The site is best experienced alone or with very few others — the energy dissipates with crowds. Combine with Jageshwar temples (36 km from Almora) for a full spiritual–heritage Kumaon day.
