About Tehri Lake
Tehri Lake was created by India's tallest dam (260.5 m) in 2006 and covers 42 sq km, rapidly developing as the state's premier water sports destination. The annual Tehri Lake Festival (February) draws adventure enthusiasts from across India. The 725 m Dobra-Chanthi suspension bridge — India's longest motorable suspension bridge — is a destination in itself. The submerged old Tehri town walls and temple tops become visible when water levels drop April–May, creating a hauntingly beautiful sight.
